I would first like to say how incredibly happy I am for my big sister! She got married last weekend, September 25, to in my opinion the greatest guy I’ve ever met. They couldn’t have been more lucky to fall into each others’ lives.
The words that were exchanged and the tears that fell during this weekend felt as if two completely separate lives were able to come together and become one single entity. They were no longer two people living in the world, but rather a symbol of the convergence of their entire upbringings, their families, their friends and their souls into one. I have another golden assignment to talk about.Golden Assignment #2: Tell someone you love that you love them
My sister and her husband got the chance to do this in front of everyone they cared about as they read their vows and exchanged rings. They did not just say those three little words, but they said what those words meant to them as a whole.
People do not do this enough. It is easy to say “I love you” to a lot of people, but the meaning comes from the feelings and life that those words represent and making sure they are known to the person that matters.
I said “I love you” to so many people this weekend that it’s almost hard to believe—but I also expressed it to even more people, especially the new members of my family. Whether or not it was picked up by all of them or remembered after the indulgent celebration after the ceremony, I did what I could to make everyone know I cared, respected and above all accepted them as a part of the family.
Spread the love to all those who matter. Show it. Don’t just say it. Whether it be family, friends or your soul’s counterpart, be sure to express it in every way you can think of and all your lives will be richer from it. I know it from experience. So take my word for it and do it!
Photoshop can’t fake the expression of true love. Thank you to Kendall J. Bush Photography for capturing the love and togetherness that was shared during this weekend.
