Just send them a ticket…
I think now that summer is almost officially here and tomorrow is the first day of a fully operational season at Darien Lake Resort, where I am currently the public relations intern full-time, I am going to use this blog as an outlet for sharing my life and work experiences.
I have not been blogging as much as I would like and when I do, it’s generally been just pictures or little quips that I find cute or entertaining—but now I think I will stay with a continuous theme and see how that plays out.
Prepare for the stories of a summer filled with hundreds of complaints from theme park guests, the constant stress from an O.C.D. boss, as many roller coaster rides as I can handle, published works, behind the scenes shenanigans and everything else I can’t even begin to predict will happen all while completing my senior research for my undergraduate degree, juggling an epic love struggle, moving twice, training for a 14,000 ft. climb and of course, working on my Kan Jam and Beruit skills.
“Just send them a ticket”— When you just can’t handle the bitching, the complaining, the idiocy anymore. Some people are just dedicated to be miserable. We must accept that working in the Public Relations business. They will scream and yell and exaggerate more than one could believe all to get your attention and, in most cases, get something for free. We tend to just send these people complimentary tickets because they simply make our lives miserable until we reach our breaking point. *Don’t you all write complaints where I work thinking I’ll send you tickets, ‘cause I won’t do it!* :P
All I ask is, take a second to think how much your complaint really means to you. Are you just doing it to complain or to get something for free? Or are you truly concerned about something you’ve experienced? If the latter, please by all means, write to me and those in my profession—but if not, save us both the misery and try a little harder to have a good time. It shouldn’t be that hard at an amusement park, but you’d be surprised with the things I read every single day.
